Tumblr Launches an App for Windows Phone 8

Tumblr has just launched an app for Windows Phone 8 with a beautiful design suited to Microsoft's mobile OS. Like the company's existing apps on iOS and Android, you'll be able to follow users, post to your own Tumblr in a variety of formats, and yes — there's full GIF support baked in.

Windows Phone users can expect some exclusive functionality, too; you can opt to have Tumblr display the latest images in your feed on the WP8 lock screen or the app's own live tile.

The news headlines for Apple have been getting progressively worse over the past few months, as rumors continue to swell of falling iPhone and iPad demand, and the company’s stock dipping below $400 for the first time since 2011.

Facebook's New Emoticons Will Make You :-)

Facebook is testing emoticons in the status updates on user profiles, allowing members to add anything from a smiley face to an ice cream cone to messages. The social network — which has rolled out the feature to select profiles — offers a variety of emoticons to choose from. Listed next to the small icons for adding a picture or a graphic location, a smiley face image now resides with the following prompt: "News: Share how you're feeling or what you're doing." Clicking on the icon reveals various categories, such as drinking, eating, watching and doing. Grabbing a bite to eat with friends? Post an update and add a pizza emoticon. At the movies? Search for the title and it will add a film board image. This connects your conversation to a show, movie, artist and so on, and possibly opens up the door for more ad revenue for the company in the future.

Although emoticons can be added to updates, it's not possible to respond with one in the comments sections just yet.
